League Format
Two flights A & B. Two person teams, team (Net) best ball, 2 points per hole.
USGA golf rules are in effect for league play. Play prefered lies in your own fairway. If you are in a divot roll the ball out (anywhere on the course) as to not be penalized for someone else being lazy. That said, DO NOT BE LAZY! FIX your ball marks and divots!
See these YouTube videos on Fixing Divots and How to Repair Ball Marks.
The schedule is set for one long season, playing each team in your flight over and over. The playoff schedule is going to be set based on total points in a seeded fashion. Each team pays separately for their 2nd and 3rd round playoff matches. Playoff matches can be played at any course. Schedule the match with the other team. Subs are allowed in playoff matches if they have played in the league 4 or more times in the league during the current year or have a verifiable handicap index.
Be mindful of the speed of play in your group and don't be shy to suggest that you have to pick up the pace. Ideally, the goal should be to play nine in 2 hrs to 2 hrs-15 min. Playing a round in 2 hrs-30 min has become routine and is not acceptable. To play nine holes in 3 hrs is ridiculous, unacceptable and inconsiderate to your fellow golfers.
The last groups should not have to finish in the dark! There are many tips to playing more quickly, but here are some favorites:
In 2020 the USGA and RNA handicap systems have been combined into a World Handicap System.
A handicap index is computed for each player (Not GHIN but as accurate) to compute the playing
9 hole handicap, as follows:
Course Handicap = (Handicap Index * (slope / 113.0)) + (rating - Course Par Total)
0.5 rounds up. If playing 9 holes, divide by 2.
If the result has a decimal, the more difficult 9 rounds up, the other 9 down.
The league rule is a maximum handicap of 18 is allowed for 9 holes.

The last groups should not have to finish in the dark! There are many tips to playing more quickly, but here are some favorites:
- Be ready to hit at your scheduled tee time. Arrive at the tee one slot (10 minutes) prior to your own to get score cards, meet your playing partners and make final preparations to play.
- Play as soon as it's safe to and practical to hit; sometimes that means playing out of order relative to "furthest from the hole" (e.g. pitching it out of trouble; laying up on a par 5 when a playing partner is waiting for the green to clear; someone else in your group is searching for their ball; etc.)
- Walk (briskly) to your own ball first, plan your shot and select your club. Do this with some sense of urgency; as if 3 other golfers are standing there tapping their toes waiting for you to play!
- Related to points 2 & 3, Play your own shot first, then help someone who is (really) struggling to find their ball. Use common sense, be courteous and communicate your intentions to play!
- When you strike a wayward shot, watch your ball flight and pick a line or marker (e.g. tree, stump, rock, ditch, fence....) to quickly get you into the search zone.
- Once you've played onto the green, make sure you place your bag where you plan to exit to the next tee. You'll save a lot of steps and time.
- When you are getting ready to play your next shot, place your bag parallel to the ball so after your shot you don't have to walk back to your bag. Again, save steps and you'll save time.
- If you're current score takes you out of contention on a hole and your group is behind, pick up your ball and caddy for the others i.e. tend the pin. If you are given a putt, take it and move on. On the score card put down your most likely score, e.g. given a fifteen foot putt, count it as 2. Practice before or after the match not at the expense of others.
- Watch the group in front of you, an open golf hole means your group is way behind. Speed it up!
